Archives: Miniatures

  • Iron Claw

Bob Olley did a number of miniatures for Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader under his Iron Claw brand. Here they are.

  • IC301 Space Pirates

These are Bob Olley’s Iron Claw Space Pirates.

  • Imperial Light Trooper aka No Face Fargo

Imperial Light Trooper aka No Face Fargo

This is one of the first Rogue Trader releases, and initially went by the name “Imperial Light Trooper”. It’s a Bob Naismith sculpt. There’s no date on the tab, unfortunately.

It was later on seen as No Face Fargo in the Rogue Trader Mercenaries range.

  • Shorty

    Shorty

This Rogue Trader Squat miniature goes by the name “Shorty” and is from the Mercenaries range. Bob Naismith said he didn’t sculpt him and the page is credited to Bob and the Perry twins, so I have marked this sculpt down as made by Michael and Alan Perry.

He can be seen in White Dwarf #95:

He can also be found in the 1991 catalogue under Ratling Snipers as “Ratling with Bolt Pistol”.

  • Faststar John

    Faststar John

This chap went by the moniker Faststar John, and is a variant on the Imperial Heavy Trooper (with a backpack rather than a power pack). Apparently he’s a Bob Naismith sculpt!

  • Ground Combat Trooper aka Abbadon

    Ground Combat Trooper aka Abbadon

This metal miniature is one of the first releases from Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, and was sculpted by Bob Naismith in 1985. He went by “Ground Combat Trooper”.

In the later RT7 Mercenary range he was shown as “Abbadon” – lower right here in this pic from White Dwarf #95:

  • Imperial Garrison Trooper aka Kylla Condotti

Imperial Garrison Trooper aka Kylla Condotti

This metal Rogue Trader miniature was first seen as the Imperial Garrison Trooper in the first Rogue Trader releases, and later as the mercenary Kylla Condotti. He’s a 1985 Bob Naismith sculpt.

“Lo Tek Trooper” on the tab, as far as I can tell.

In White Dwarf #95 he appears in the Mercenaries section, top left:

  • Imperial Heavy Infantry aka Space-Dout Sam

Imperial Heavy Infantry aka Space-Dout Sam

This Imperial Heavy Infantry is a Bob Naismith sculpt from the earliest Rogue Trader releases. He’s also shown in the later Mercenaries range as “Space-Dout Sam”.

He can be seen in White Dwarf #95:

He’s a variant sculpt of the Imperial Heavy Trooper (no idea which one may have been first…).

  • Breakout Con

    Breakout Con

This metal Rogue Trader Mercenary was a Bob Naismith sculpt and shares his base head sculpt with Brother Dimshade. He goes by the moniker Breakout Con.

  • Old World Jack

    Old World Jack

I was expecting this guy to have a backpack bump on his back but he doesn’t; and it doesn’t look like one was cut off either!

He’s a Bob Naismith sculpt from 1987 and was from the RT7 Mercenary line.

    Painted December 2024:

    • Scar: Kimera’s Magenta
    • Skin: Kimera’s The White followed by Scale75’s Pale Skin, then a mix of the two for highlights, and Kimera’s Oxide Brown Medium and Oxide Brown Dark for shading. A little bit of Red Oxide mixed in to Pale Skin for blushed areas.
    • Leather: Kimera’s Oxide Brown Medium or Royal Brown as the base, shaded by mixing in Ultramarine with Royal Brown, highlighted by mixing in Cold Yellow.
    • Base: Kimera’s Red Oxide, followed by Scale75’s Reddish Brown pigment, then Natural Soil, and a little bit of Sand pigment on the rocks. Wild Tuft is the front one and the back I don’t recall – maybe AK? Base rim is Vallejo Black Grey.
