Archives: Miniatures

  • Brother Roberts

    Brother Roberts

This guy was initially shown as Brother Roberts and later as bolt Pistol 070119/28.

  • Brother Levers

    Brother Levers

This metal Rogue Trader-era Space Marine goes by Brother Levers and has two power gloves! He’s later shown as part number 070145/15. I can’t find a sculpting credit for him.

  • WD100 Space Marines

    WD100 Space Marines

This lot were shown in White Dwarf #100 (April 1988) and were credited to Mark Copplestone and Aly Morrison.

The sculpting credits aren’t given individually, but going on my Space Marine Feet theory from the RT101 range I’m dividing this group up into:

Large feet (Mark Copplestone at a guess):

    • Brother Leach
    • Brother Craven
    • Brother Potter
    • Brother Holt
    • Brother Slater

Small feet (Aly Morrison at a guess):

    • Brother Sawyer
    • Brother Matthews
    • Brother Martins
    • Brother McCarthy
    • Brother Morris
    • Sergeant Burgess
    • Brother Byrne
    • Brother Roberts
    • Sergeant Payne
    • Brother Levers
    • Brother Fielding
  • RT3 Space Marines

    RT3 Space Marines

These are the Space Marines shown in the Rogue Trader #3 flyer. There aren’t any new minis shown here that haven’t already been shown in the earlier releases (e.g. RT01, RT101, WD100).

  • Brother Harris

    Brother Harris

This guy was first seen as Brother Harris, and later as Bolter 13 which was part number 070106/3.

He’s a 1987 sculpt and was shown on pages with minis sculpted by either Aly Morrison or Mark Copplestone – I’m not sure which of those two sculpted this fellow. The sticking plaster across his nose is a lovely touch.

He shares most of his sculpt with Marine Medic 01 from 1987.

You can see him in WD99:

  • Brother Blake

    Brother Blake

I think the only Space Marine to ever come with an autogun! He’s shown as 070106/16 in the 1991 catalogue, and as Brother Blake in the 1988 RT3 flyer:

He seems to be named after Madge Blake, who played Aunt Harriet Cooper in the 1960s Batman TV show. The mini himself:

You can see him in WD99:

  • Brother Repp

    Brother Repp

This metal Rogue Trader Space Marine goes by Brother Repp (with Melta Gun) and has 1988 on the tab. He is shown with part number 070106/17 in the 1991 catalogues and is listed as one of those sculpted by Aly Morrison and Mark Copplestone.

He seems to be named after Stafford Repp, who played Chief O’Hara in the 1960s Batman TV series.

    My paintjob in June 2023:

    • Undercoat: Vallejo Mecha Black
    • Blue and Guilloche: Scale75 Art Cobalt Blue, highlighted with Kimera The White, shaded with Carbon Black
    • Base: Scale75 Red Ochre, drybrushed with a mix of Red Ochre and Honey Moon Yellow, further drybrush with a little bit of The White mixed in
    • Meltagun: Black Metal, then Thrash Metal, then Speed Metal, then White Alchemy. Shading with Carbon Black. Heat bloom Kimera Warm Yellow, then Orange, then Toluidine Red, then Phthalo Blue Red Shade, then Violet, then Carbon Black
    • Eyes: Scale75 Art Spring Green, shaded with Carbon Black, highlighted with Cold Yellow and The White.
    • Red: The Red, then Scale75 Red Ink SART-74, then Black Ink SART-79 in the recesses, then Cold Yellow for the highlights. Some Carbon Black + The Red for shadows.
    • Yellow warning sign: The White, then Cold Yellow, with Carbon Black for the exclamation point.
    • Black: Carbon Black, highlighted with The White

The one new thing I tried this time around was doing the heat bloom on the meltagun with a brush rather than airbrush. I didn’t much care for the recessed eye lenses – they were difficult to paint and also to get light to for the photo!

  • Brother Hamilton aka Gideon Fax

    Brother Hamilton aka Gideon Fax

This chap is Brother Hamilton in the April 1988 RT3 flyer and Bolter 10 070106/2 in the later catalogues.

He seems to be named after Neil Hamilton, who played Commissioner Gordon in the 1960s Batman TV show.

This model appears in the original run of Citadel Combat Cards as Gideon Fax, a Marine Medic in the Mentors chapter.

    1987 on the tab!

    Brother Meredith

This awesome sculpt was initially shown as Brother Meredith, and by 1991 was Bolter 11 and part number 070106/10. He seems to have been named after Burgess Meredith, who played the Penguin in the 1960s Batman TV show.

Sculpted by Mark Copplestone (as confirmed by the man himself!).

  • Brother Gorshin

    Brother Gorshin

Not a weapon you see much of any more! He’s a 1987 sculpt, shown in later catalogues as 07016/15. His name seems to be a reference to Frank Gorshin, who played the Riddler in series 1 and 3 of the 1960s Batman TV show.
